This is Paulino YQ, the reggae dancehall emperor, happy with Africa and the rest of the world, putting dancehall music into the hierarchy of importance by sending truth, righteousness, love and laughter to everyone who is ready to receive his powerful, inspiring message.

Paulino YQ arrived South Africa in 1995 and hooked up with Deon Maas who used to be the label manger for Tusk Music (now merged with Gallo). Deon Maas now owns his own company called Meerkat Media and is the person behind the coordination and direction of Paulino’s musical talent
.
His inspiration, he said is from nobody but nature and what he sees in his day to day activities.
In Africa, Paulino Y Q is known as the Dancehall Emperor. “Dancehall Emperor” is actually one of Paulino’s songs of the more than one hundred songs that he has recorded since 1990.
Despite success in the more northern reaches of Africa, Paulino is still bubbling under the musical scene in South Africa but his repertoire and new album, The Court Of Love have demonstrated that he is an artist to watch out for in the near future.

Continuing to push for a record release, paulino yq then recorded a full length album in 1999 (11 songs).Although it was not released, this album included two songs ‘My African Personality’ and “Africa Unite”, which were included in the “African Unity” compilation album that was released by Red Tomahawk records in South Africa, featuring artists from Europe, America and Africa. In 2001 he appeared on SABC 1’s show “Gumba Fire” and was interviewed by DJ Glen Lewis of Metro Fm and also performed his song, “My African Personality”. Three months later, he remixed “My African Personality” at the SABC studios working with producer Neal Snyman and backing vocalist Khanyo Maphumulo.

Paulino is totally committed to Dancehall Music and it is his toasting style in the Dancehall Scene in Africa that saw him become known as The Dancehall Emperor. “Dancehall Emperor” is but one song from a period that saw Paulino produce other hits such as “Tic-Tac” and “Hail Rastaman”, “Rejected and Hold”, “Buttshegone (Butt she’s gone)”. He recorded his first ever track, ‘Work Together’ in 1990. He followed this work up in 1992 when he recorded seven more songs “Tea without Sugar”. However, none of this material has ever been released.
“The Court Of Love” is Paulino’s first, released full length album. He started recording in late 2003, working with musicians like Eugenius Alcupoem, Ian Osrin, and Collin Peddie. Khanyo Maphumulo, Mpho, Patrick Mokhobo, Juan Thyme, Sandy B, Joel Klein and Galvan Eckhart. The album is released under Paulino’s own record label (Eclipse Recordx Entertainment) ERENT!
